3 The periodic table of the elements terms
This glossary is made for a better understanding of the periodic table and the discovery of the new elements throughout the ages, and the father of the periodic table, Dimitri Ivanovich Mendeleev.
- Mendeleev
- We know Mendeleev as the father of the periodic table, he was the first to recognize that any gaps must correspond to elements not yet discovered. He didn’t get everything right, but enough of his predictions came true to cement his legacy. (Joshua Howgeg

- The first periodic table and what it represented.
- The first periodic table did not look it does today for two reasons. Atomic weight and lack of elements (because their were sorted by reactivity in the 1860s). The periodic table is the full catalogue of the known elements.

- What changed?
- In the 1860s by reactivity,7 rows before, now you find that similar properties recur in every 8th element. That's how the new periodic table was born. *speed's through every section*
